Engineered Bacillus velezensis Enzyme Breaks Down Toxic Pesticide Carbaryl
A new study reports the engineering of a Bacillus velezensis-derived esterase capable of efficiently degrading the toxic pesticide carbaryl. The enhanced enzyme, Est03320-L230G, achieved a 96.5% degradation rate and sustained activity through five reuse cycles, offering a sustainable solution for pesticide pollution.
